DreamHack puts CS & HoN on equal footing
DreamHack and MSI BEAT IT just announced their Winter 2011 event that will begin ramping up as soon as August 20th with online qualifiers culminating at the November 24th-26th event with over 400,000 SEK in prizes—split right down the middle between Counter-Strike 1.6 and Heroes of Newerth.
Cash prizes will be given out to the top four placing teams in both events, with 100,000 SEK (roughly $16,000 USD) and five MSI GT780 laptops to be awarded to the winning teams.
A series of online international qualifications will be conducted for both events, where winning teams will join the respective event's BYOC competition and the Summer 2011 champions in a grand final event. Teams winning qualifiers will be awarded $1000.
Ultimately, 12 HoN teams and 16 CS teams will make the trip to Jönköping. The defending champions from Summer 2011, SK-Gaming's CS squad and Fnatic.MSI's HoN team, have already accepted their invitations to participate in the tournament.
